Getting construction pictures from the Kingdom Tower site in Jeddah, in the middle of desert, is really hard to get and every insight from the site feels like Christmas. Thanks to our friend Rody for this new update. Here are the news.

You heard in our last update that Bauer Group, German company which is in charge for the foundations started moving construction equipment to the site. Almost everything arrived, their temporary camp with 85 engineers and workers is built. According to Rody, they are still waiting for 8 machines to arrive, which should happen on February 2nd.

For those interested, here's the list:

- 3 Bauer BG40 Piling machines (with the power of 40nm of torque)
- 2 Bauer BG28 Piling machines (with the power of 28nm of torque)
- 2 Pumpers
- 1 crane

All of them will start doing their job till February 9th.

In the meantime, preparations on the site were done, footprint of the tower is marked along with more than 600 drilling points for the Kingdom Tower foundation piles which will reach even 100 m in depth below the hot desert sand.

Here are the pictures by Rody. Remember them, those are first pictures of real construction of the new tallest building in the world, after Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

Finally! Bauer Group, company which built Burj Khalifa's foundations started moving into the site in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. German construction company was chosen in October to build foundations for the new world's tallest building, over 1km tall Kingdom Tower.

After pile testing in January and some redesigning on the tower's podium, actual construction is set to start this month and should be completed within 10 months when Kingdom Tower will shoot into the sky. Apparently tower is also fully funded and there shouldn't be any problems and delays during construction process regarding financing.

Stay with us, we will follow closely every move on the construction site.

Update: Preparation work done, foundation construction start.

Kingdom Tower Construction Pictures

Test pile being placed to the lifting platform
© engineersinside.com
We came across those rare pictures of construction site in Jeddah where world's tallest skyscraper, Kingdom Tower, is about to rise. Ground preparations are ongoing for months now and we are still waiting for some detailed info and pictures from the site. For now we managed to find those construction pictures of Kingdom Tower pile testing.

All those pictures were taken on January 28th, and at the moment those are the newest pictures online. The photos are showing the implementation of the load test (O-Cell® Test Pile -78.0 m depth) for Kingdom Tower’s foundation. As we heard recently, those test piles failed and they had to redesign some stuff around the tower's base. That's why tower moved on the drawing board again so that can be fixed.

Now we are waiting top hear what happened and what is going to happen.
Stay tuned!
