Architecture Quote #4 - Richard Meier

Apartment Design Focused On Minimalism, Hong Kong
Apartment design focused on minimalism - living room via Fixonic |
Living space in Hong Kong is focused on small and mostly narrow areas for the big part of population. Just climb up on the hills surrounding the city and take a look at those canyons made of tall narrow apartment buildings. Having a larger living space is, I guess, one of the wishes residents of Hong Kong have.
That's why designers and architects from Fixonic Design & Production redesigned old 2 bedroom residence into this beautiful open modern apartment called G7.
New apartment design requested tearing down some of the existing walls in order to allow more of the daylight to break deeper in. As you can see, designers used light wood to point out that minimalist interior design which automatically made an apartment look bigger and brighter.
On the other hand, bathroom is unexpected contrast which, in our opinion, turned out great. Dark tiles in combination with white marble and white modern furniture gave one completely different atmosphere yet connected to the rest of the apartment design.

Getting construction pictures from the Kingdom Tower site in Jeddah, in the middle of desert, is really hard to get and every insight from the site feels like Christmas. Thanks to our friend Rody for this new update. Here are the news.
You heard in our last update that Bauer Group, German company which is in charge for the foundations started moving construction equipment to the site. Almost everything arrived, their temporary camp with 85 engineers and workers is built. According to Rody, they are still waiting for 8 machines to arrive, which should happen on February 2nd.
For those interested, here's the list:
- 3 Bauer BG40 Piling machines (with the power of 40nm of torque)
- 2 Bauer BG28 Piling machines (with the power of 28nm of torque)
- 2 Pumpers
- 1 crane
All of them will start doing their job till February 9th.
In the meantime, preparations on the site were done, footprint of the tower is marked along with more than 600 drilling points for the Kingdom Tower foundation piles which will reach even 100 m in depth below the hot desert sand.
Here are the pictures by Rody. Remember them, those are first pictures of real construction of the new tallest building in the world, after Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

Kim And Kanye Getting New Mansion In Bel Air
New house bought by Kim and Kanye via Celebrity Networth |
Yep. For everyone who follows this celebrity couple, here's something for you. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, also known as "Kimye", apparently bought new house in Bel Air.
Mansion worth $11 million is located at 11790 Southampton Ct, Bel Air (Holmby Hills), California. Jennifer Aniston, Joe Francis and Chris Paul are just some of their new neighbors. Looks like that kid they're expecting won't have boring life.
The house is designed by famous Los Angeles architect Ronald G. Firestone, known for his luxury Hollywood homes. Kim and Kanye will be first residents in this luxury Italian-style (Tuscan Mediterranean) villa with five bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms, fireplaces, wine cellar, make up room for Kim, basketball court for Kanye, bowling alley, entertainment area, spa, indoor pool, everything built on the 2 floors connected with private elevator. There's of course tennis court (actually five tennis courts) and club house well protected with 24 hour high security.
Way bigger and more luxury than first Kim Kardashian's house in Beverly Hills, from the time when she lived alone.
